MLB Spring Training started on February 21st. Jeri will be going with Jon in March for some of the games in Florida. Jon gives us his translation of many of the boring, perfunctory baseball sound bites. For example: “We have a great bunch of guys” really means “I’m stuck with the same losers we had last year.” Wait ‘til you hear the rest of them!
The link for Variety’s Final Oscar Predictions is in the show notes. The Brothers discuss many of the movies and actors, giving their picks as opposed to Variety’s picks. Some they agree with, some they don’t. The Favourite is certainly not their favorite!
Jon talks about attending the launch of the Winter 2019 issue of “Minding Nature,” an environmental journal from his client, the Center for Humans and Nature. This issue is about “Minding Nature in the Anthropocene.” This is a new geological era, acknowledging that human beings have made an indelible mark on the earth--and not for the better.
This event included artwork and essays of students from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Jon was surprised that these students seemed to look at the dark side. It was depressing, as if they were ‘throwing in the towel.’ As we know, the Bros are all about solutions. And thank goodness, Jon dumbed it down for us.
He narrowed it down to six environmental buzzwords that are in the show notes. There are definitions there, but Jon elaborates on them in his own inimitable way. They are definitely understandable. Cute and understandable.
If you care about the environment at all, you’ll learn a lot about where we are now. Did you know we’re in a new geological era, the Anthropocene Age? I knew we were in it, I just didn’t know there was a name for it.
